Kathleen is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Psychotherapist with over 20 years of post-graduate experience providing counseling and psychotherapy to adults, children, couples, families and groups. Kathleen provides confidential, expert counseling and psychotherapy to those interested in creating positive life changes for themselves or their families. In addition to receiving a Master of Science in Social Work degree from Columbia University Graduate School of Social Work in New York City and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Le Moyne College in Syracuse, Kathleen trained at New York State Psychiatric Institute in Manhattan and has obtained post-graduate specialized training in: ~ couples / marriage counseling ~ post-partum syndrome ~ post-traumatic stress disorder ~ emotional aftermath of abortion / miscarriage ~ family counseling ~ trauma-focused treatment for adults and teens ~ attachment disorders ~ bereavement / grief counseling ~ loss-of-pet grief counseling ~ cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) ~ dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) ~ co-parenting for blended / divided families Caring. Compassion. Born and raised in Youngstown, New York, Kathleen is excited to support her local community and provide services here in Niagara County. Kathleen lived and worked in New York City and Long Island for 11 years prior to moving back to Youngstown in 2005. While living downstate, she worked as an executive and clinician for a large non-profit mental health agency. Following the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center, Kathleen was asked to lead a team of Social Workers caring for the hundreds of families on Long Island affected by the tragic deaths of their loved ones killed during the attacks. In 2003, she was recognized by the September 11th Fund and the 9/11 United Services Group for her outstanding service to the community during the 9/11 crisis relief effort.
Since returning to Western New York, Kathleen has provided both clinical and administrative services at The Mental Health Association in Niagara County and Catholic Charities Family Services Program, and has served as a Field Supervisor for the State University at Buffalo Graduate School of Social Work. Additionally, Kathleen is a Certified Child Permanency Mediator, received certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, and is a member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW).
